Downtown Charleston

The downtown area is where the highest concentration of historic homes in the city can be found. Downtown Charleston, often referred to as The Peninsula, lies on a strip of land that lies between the Cooper and Ashley rivers which flow along either side until they reach the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the oldest houses in Charleston can be found here: over three thousand historic homes are found in this neighborhood alone, some of which date back to the 1690's! Downtown is an incredible place to live where one can simply walk to shopping areas, restaurants, museums, and visit a wide variety of nationally historic areas.

Mt. Pleasant

East of the Cooper River you will find the neighborhoods of Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, and Isle of Palms. Mt. Pleasant is a growing area, but remains an example of very well planned development. One of the most popular areas in the Charleston real estate market today, the area offers a variety of golf courses, suburban residences, resort property, high-end condos, upscale restaurants and grocery stores. It remains within easy driving distance to the beaches of Sullivan?s Island and the Isle of Palms. While much of Mt. Pleasant is new, historic homes and communities within the district can be found within such places as The Old Village.

Folly Beach

Folly Beach is the closest beach to downtown historic Charleston. This neighborhood is very appealing to those who want the laid back beach atmosphere of a seaside community, but don't want to be too far from the city. While some customers arrive convinced that they are looking to experience city living, Folly Beach?s appealing atmosphere charms some clients into actually making bids on local houses for sale. Charleston, SC's Folly Beach is considered some of the best surfing on the entire East Coast with the Washout being a popular destination for surfers. While there is an array of outdoor activities available, one of its premier attractions remains its incredible marsh and ocean views.

James Island

James Island is the part of the city that lies between downtown Charleston and Folly Beach. A popular place to live because of the close proximity to both beach and city, James Island offers some of the finest homes for sale in Charleston. I personally live on James Island because of its trouble-free convenience, and its bright lively atmosphere. Both the Charleston Country Club and the City of Charleston public golf course are located on James Island. James Island Park is another popular destination for residents. They offer a large fishing dock, a bustling dog park, and many colorful festivals throughout the year.

Seabrook and Kiawah Islands

The islands of Seabrook and Kiawah are barrier islands located further south than Folly Beach. Nearby, Wadmalaw Island and Johns Island are located just to the northwest of both Kiawah and Seabrook Island, SC. Real estate in the area appeals to beach lovers, golfers, and people that value their privacy. Both islands are private islands that offer exclusive access to property owners. Seabrook offers an equestrian facility as well as pristine sandy beaches. Both islands offer premier tennis facilities and Bohicket Marina has many slips available for residents who enjoy boating. Seabrook and Kiawah are a pair of unique islands which offer residents year-round enjoyment in a beautiful relaxed setting.
