Kiawah Island
|
Kiawah Island, just south of Charleston, is one of the most exclusive communities in the entire metropolitan area. Specialty shops, fine dining restaurants and local resorts are scattered liberally throughout the island. Vacation villas, cottages and private homes can be found lining the island's expansive sandy beaches. Kiawah Island real estate lies close to large marshes, pristine shorelines and other major outdoor attractions. The island's impressive natural vistas and open air activities are a major selling point for those looking for homes in Charleston, SC. Thick pine forests, massive live oaks and large magnolias dot the landscape and wildlife also plays a major role in the island's attractiveness: whitetail deer, gray fox, bobcats, and loggerhead turtles all make their home on Kiawah Island, SC. Real estate on the island is close to some of the best-known championship golf courses on the entire East Coast and is located a mere 21 miles away from Charleston itself. The Ocean Course was home to the Senior Masters in 2008. Kiawah is a gated island so it is a very safe place to live or vacation. It is hard not to fall in love with the charming atmosphere that Kiawah Island offers. The island community values its privacy so interested buyers are encouraged to enlist a local realty service in order to schedule viewings of local homes for sale. Kiawah, SC access is limited to property owners and resort and rental guests, although public access is available on the west end of the island via Beachwalker County Park.
