James Island is located just ten minutes west of downtown Charleston, SC. Real estate listings in the Riverland Terrace community offer nice views along Wappoo Creek and the inland waterway. The historic Avenue of Oaks leads into the island's quaint neighborhood which offers you a nice selection of living situations for both you and your family to choose from. From small starter homes to larger and roomier houses, James Island offers a nice selection of homes for sale. James Island is currently seeking incorporation and as recently as 2005, a town hall was established in a quaint downtown storefront. The island is located just east of West Ashley, and just north of Folly Beach and Kiawah Island. Real estate in the area offers a nice suburban living situation for residents wanting to live in close proximity to both the city and the beach. The neighborhood's James Island Park boasts a public boat landing, a bustling playground, a dog park, and a water park. James Island has a variety of restaurants and two movie theatres. Both the Charleston Country Club and the Charleston Municipal Golf Course can be found on James Island, SC. Real estate in the area offers a real hometown feel to busy Charlestonians who are seeking a quiet relaxed atmosphere. James Island is a really convenient place to live because it is so easy to go downtown or Folly Beach. There are many affordable places to live and many waterfront homes available with private docks. James Island is also a great opportunity for an investment for the reasons I have mentioned. It is a short drive to John's Island, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, downtown, and West Ashley. The new connector bridge offers a quicker way to get to go from James Island to the penninsula. I personally live on James Island in Seaside Plantation. I often ride my bike to Folly Beach, and I find that it is always a short drive to go downtown. This makes it an ideal living situation for me.
